Ariel has long been one of my guilty pleasure books. I noticed Cory Doctorow did a blurb for the book, and while I know he covered Steven Boyett on Boing Boing for both his writing and his podcasting he does Podrunner, if ya didn’t knowI can’t help but think that he only did it because Disneyland is mentioned. But that’s just the problem–I don’t buy that a half-educated teenager would write with boyftt grandiose verbiage or poetic style.
There is something to say here about the role of women in Boyett’s books. The title should be at least 4 characters long. At eleggy, I could hear my first-year English professor lecturing about the four types of stories And when you’re writing in first person, I have to believe the voice.
